Best classic climbs in La Pedriza
For most climbers, La Pedriza means slab climbing and scary runouts. But those were the old times. La Pedriza now hosts a wide variety of climbing routes: overhangs, trad, crimpy faces, aid climbing, tons of bouldering and of course the famous slabs, bolted nowadays in a more generous way.
La Pedriza has been the craddle of rock climbing in Madrid for the last 150 years. According to experts, sticky rubber was used here for the first time in the history of climbing in the world!
The rich heritage of the surroundings has earned the right to become a part of the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, due to the native wildlife of vultures, wild goats and ageless trees and the endless human and animal-shaped rock formations. According to local legends, bandits and maidens still wander these cliffs.
