Two summits Weekend

Aneto – Pico de Alba or Maladeta on skis

Aneto is the classic ski touring summit par excellence of the Pyrenees. It is so because its orientation protects the snow until the end of spring, for its high, for its moderate difficulty, for its beauty… Every skier has to do it at least once during his lifetime. But Aneto is also surrounded by a cluster of peaks that we should not ignore.

We have designed this route thinking that a weekend is well worth the ascent of two famous Pyrenean three thousand metres peaks.

The first day we will go up to sleep at La Renclusa Hut. The second day we will ascent Aneto, through the Portillón Superior route and the glacier. The descent, with 1500 meters of downhill, will leave us at the famous Pleta de Aigüalluts, from where we will go back to the Renclusa col to finish again at the hut.

On the third day we will ascent to Pico de Alba, which although smaller in size (3,118 masl), has greater mountaineering rigor. Its ridge, without being difficult, will not leave us indifferent. The descent offers two possibilities, which we will choose based on snow conditions. Both will leave us directly at Benasque hospital, saving us the tedious return on the cross-country ski trails.
