PYRENEES: Posets, the Three Huts Trekking
From the Viado’s mountain hut, Poset’s massif has Himalaya resemblances of shapes and dimensions, such is its size. The existence of three strategically located mountain huts will allow us to surround this huge and beautiful stone massif in 3 days of authentic Pyreneesism.
From the end of June the high mountain passes are usually free of snow, been the best season to cross them. Autumn will also give us the splendid color scheme of the beech and other deciduous trees. The profusion of black pines as well will give the landscape an almost Canadian touch.
It is, therefore, an unforgettable route with some of the most beautiful corners of the Pyrenees, such as the ibones (Mountain lakes) of Llardaneta and Escarpinosa or the sharp rocky needles of Perramó.
This trekking is, without a doubt, a perfect initiation to the high mountain walking circuits of the Pyrenees. On the other hand, if you decide to sign up for the option that includes the ascent to the second highest peak in the Pyrenees, the Posets, you will add to this tour a beautiful summit. Poset is not only a impressive mountain, but one of the best balconies from which to survey much of the Pyrenees.

ACTIVITY DETAILS
Day 2: Viadós Hut – Estós Hut:
Route: 10.6 km. Ascent/Descend: + 900mts. – 750 mts. Estimated time: 6 hours.
The most relaxed stage to start the trekking. In any case it offers magnificent views of the west face of the Posets. We’ll cross beautiful grassy ravines under the spectacular summit, elevated over the valley more than 1600 meters. An image hard to forget.
Day 3: Estós Hut-Angel Orús Hut
Route: 13.5 km. Ascent/ Descend: +1150 mts. -900 mts. Estimated time: 8 hours.
Stage that covers part of the Estós valley, absolutely flanked by three thousand peaks like Perdiguero or Gourgs Blancs, then we’ll go into the wild valley of Perramó, one of the most exquisite corners of the Pyrenees. This stage is a legs breaker,
especially in its granite part, with steep rocky terrrain.
Day 4: Ascent to Posets from the Angel Orús hut (3375 mts.) In case of booking before the trekking start. Route: 8km. Ascent: +1260m. Descend: -1260m. Estimated time: 7 hours Spectacular ascent to the second highest summit of the Pyrenees, through a narrow path and a spectacular ridge. The views from the summit are difficult to describe, just say that they cover a good part of the Pyrenees and that they look out from a bird’s eye view over a necklace of mountain lakes and the immediate valley of Añes Cruces. Viadós hut, right below, looks like a doll house.
Day 5: Angel Orús Hut – Viádós Hut:
Route: 10 km. Ascent/ Descend: + 915mts -1200m. Estimated time: 7.5 hours.
Another amazing stage. We pass by the Ibón de Llardaneta, with crystal clear waters. From the Col de Eriste (or La Forqueta) we can climb an easy three thousand peak, La Forqueta, and then descend the incredible Ribereta valley between the Posets massif and the powerful batholith that
forms the left bank of the valley. The arrival in Viadós will put our trekking to it’s end.
